A drama workshop for youth
A three day workshop was held at the Maharagama Youth Centre. The workshop was organized by the aesthetic division of the National youth Services council.
Drama Professions of the National Drama School in India also participated in the workshop.
The purpose of the workshop was to educate and empower the budding dramatists who are getting ready for the finals of the National Youth Drama festival to be held in November this year.
The number of Tamil and Sinhala medium dramas selected for the competition was 60. Many artists and dramatists participated in the workshop.

Minister of Mass Media and Information suspends enforcement of new regulations
Taking into consideration the particulars moved by the heads of media institutions the Minister agreed to postpone by a month the enforcement of new regulations as per the Extraordinary Gazette notification on the 20th of October 2008 on new regulations to Article 31 of the Rupavahini Act No 6 of 1982 /06.

A sports complex to facilitate rural youth
The construction work of sports complex which built at Madampe Senanayake Maha Vidyalaya in Chilaw commenced last Monday (03). Sports and Public Recreation Minister Gamini Lokuge was present at the occasion.
The amount allocated for the complex is Rs 800 lakhs and the complex also consists of a 400m long track, rugby and football ground, an indoor stadium, swimming pool, hostel and a pavilion.
The main purpose of building such complexes is to provide the under privileged schools of the villages the same facilities as the urban schools and also to promote more sportsmen and women from the villages said Minister Gamini Lokuge.
Further speaking the Minister said that he has already instructed the National committee on allowing the talented students of the village to enter schools with more sports facilities.
The Minister mentioned that in keeping to the project of developing sports schools, sports complexes are been put up at the Dikwella Vijitha Maha Vidyalaya, Piliyandala Maha Vidyalaya and Madampe Senanayake Maha Vidyalaya. He also said that the construction work of the sports complex of Piliyandala Maha Vidyalaya is in its last phase.
