Posted by admin 9 November, 2008 (0) Comment

V. Anandasangaree, the leader of the Tamil United Liberation Front, commended Security Forces in Jaffna, and said that the northern people have expressed their confidence in them.

He is currently in Jaffna after four years to look into his party’s activities and to see for himself the situation there.

He was of the opinion that as the chief of a leading Tamil political party it was highly appreciable to see that the LTTE was very much neutralised in the peninsula.
People were very happy over the relation the Security Forces maintained with civilians and establishing confidence in the Armed Forces.

He said that it is heart rending to hear that LTTE has no respect for temples and is trying to use them even as their hideout. A major plot planned by the LTTE at a temple premises was averted by the Security Forces in Jaffna recently, when a  large haul of lethal weapons was found hidden in a covered Vel-Cart.

The Government should expedite a political settlement while the military operations are being carried out against the LTTE, commented Anandasangaree.
Food items, fuel and other essentials were reaching Jaffna .

He further added that a detailed report of his visit to Jaffna will be presented to President Mahinda Rajapaksa on his return to Colombo.
