Former Golden Key Credit Card CEO/Director Khavan Perera and two other were remanded today by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate till January 16 pending an investigation into a fraud at the company, court officials said.

The Indian request to hand over LTTE supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran if he was captured alive after conquering the last stronghold of the terrorist outfit Mullaithivu by Sri Lankan armed forces was an endorsement of the ongoing humanitarian operations in the North by India, the Sri Lankan government said today.

Gas prices to be reduced- Minister
He pointed out that on January 1st the price of a 12.5 kg cylinder of Shell gas was reduced by Rs.166 rupees and a 12.5 kg cylinder of Laugfs gas by Rs.276 owing to the drop in world prices.

Govt condemns attack on Sirasa Media Complex
The Government vehemently condemns the attack on the Sirasa media complex in Depanama, Pannipitiya, perpetrated in the early hours of January 6, Anusha Palpita, Director of Government Information said in a statement released a short while ago.President Rajapaksa immediately ordered a full investigation into the incident and called on the Inspector General of Police to apprehend the culprits and bring them to court.
Meanwhile, Minister of Mass Media and Information, Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, also condemned the attack and called the IGP to initiate a probe into the incident.
The Minister further said that it appears that the incident was deliberately designed to bring the Government into disrepute at a time when the heroic troops of the security forces are successfully engaged in ridding the country of the terrorist menace.
