Task Force 1 (TF1) has displayed the weapons, ammunition and other warlike items yesterday (Nov 21) which were captured from the LTTE during the offensive thrust against terrorists capturing major terror bastions in western coastal border Molonkavil, Nachchikuda, Devil’s Point and Pooneryn.

Hundreds of T-56 weapons, anti- aircraft weapons, grenade and RPG launchers, thousands of ammunition, claymore mines, anti-personnel mines, hand grenades, Out Boat Motors (OBMs) and many other items left away by fleeing terrorists are on the display.

The Task Force 1, which was raised in early this year, fully liberated the Mannar district capturing major LTTE sea tiger strongholds in Vidattaltivu, Iluppaikkaddavai and Vellankulama, along the Mannar- Pooneryn road (A-32).

After fully liberating the Mannar district troops entered the Kilinochchi district from the southwestern district boarders and advanced further northwards along the Mannar- Pooneryn road (A-32) running along the northwestern coastal belt of the Island dominating highest strategic importance terror bastions Molonkavil, Nachchikudha, Vannerikulama, Manniyankulama, Pallawarayankaddu, Chunnavil, Nochchimoddai, Chempankundu, Jeyapuram, Nachchikuda, Devil’s Point, Kiranchi, Vallaipadu, Palavi and Pooneryn.
