The European Union officials have expressed their surprise over the continuous inflow of emails to their Brussels office stating that the GSP+ to Sri Lanka should not be extended said Minister of Export Development & International Trade, Prof G.L. Peiris.
He noted that these emails are based on two completely false accusations which said that the Government of Sri Lanka has not made an officially request for the extension the GSP+ provision in due time and that the Government of France is planning to file a case against Sri Lanka at the International Court Justice (ICJ) with regard to the massacring of 17 aid workers of Action Against Hunger (ACF), non-Governmental Organisation who were mysteriously assassinated in Muttur 2006.
“These two accusations are completely false and baseless,” the Minister said addressing at the weekly Cabinet briefing held in Colombo today (03).
