Attack on journalists condemned, cash reward for information leading to arrest

While condemning the recent attack on two journalists, Namal Perera and Mahendra Rathnaweera, Minister of Mass Media and Information Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said that this is an another deliberate act of a well organized group intent on bringing the government and the country into disrepute.

The Minister said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed the authorities to offer a cash reward to anyone providing accurate information that leads to the apprehending of the perpetrators of this act.

Speaking further the Minister said that police three teams have been deployed to probe the incident and added that the Ministerial Committee on Journalists’ Grievances will take up this issues at its next sitting on Monday.
