Minister Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan today said the eastern development proceeded smoothly with ministers visiting the area to monitor projects after a lapse of thirty years.He said the activities in relief villages operated quite well to uplift the standards of the people.
The minister pointed out that both the Sinhalese and the Tamils in the east worked with an understanding and added he would join in the polls work in the north to help the government.
He claimed the eastern people lived in peace and there was no need to carry arms in the region.
He said his former cadres were now engaged in various vocations to make a living.
