The government has decided to use the Short Message Service (SMS) to inform the public of emergencies and natural disasters in the country.
The Sri Lanka Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said that it will deliver a SMS on disasters to a selected person in each district of the country and that person will relay the information to the general public regarding the emergency situation.
