Queen of the Sri Lankan Cinema Malini Fonseka has been listed among the best 25 performing artistes in Asia. Malini Fonseka is included in the list issued by CNN, along with top actor of Bollywood Cinema Amitabh Bachchan and Pakistan’s Mohamad Ali. During her career that spanned several decades from the 1960s, she has bagged many a localand foreign award.
In 1980 she received the best actress award for her performance in
“Hingana Kolla’ and in 1982 and 1983 received the same for ‘Aradhana’
and ‘Yasa-Isuru’ films. Malini Fonseka was the first Sri Lankan
actress to reach international heights, winning awards at the Moscow
International Film Festival in 1975 and New Delhi Film Festival in
1977.
She has received the Presidential as well as the OCIC awards and the
title of ‘Vishwa Prasadini’.
