The Director General of the Media Center for National Security, Lakshman Hulugalle said that Sri Lanka was not the destination of the aircraft from North Korea with weapons on board as claimed by certain sections of foreign and local media last evening.
It was reported in the foreign media that Thai authorities have seized 35 tons of weapons from a plane believed bound from North Korea to South Asia or Middle East last evening.
The five Eastern Europeans who were in the plane were detained,UPI news service said. The Post said the suspects were identified as Alexandr Zrybnev, 53, Viktor Abdullayev, 58, Vitaliy Shumkov, 54, Ilyas Issakov, 53, from Kazakhstan; and Mikhail Petukhou, 54, from Belarus.
