Newly built five storied building was ceremonially declared open by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in Defence Services College premises On Thursday (26) morning.
President Rajapaksa after unveiling the commemorative plaque admitted four students to grade one of the college. The four students were children of Security Forces’ personnel representing the Army, Navy, Air Force and Police.
Defence Services College was established in year 2007 on the instructions of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and under the guidance of Secretary Defence and Urban Development Gotabaya Rajapaksa to ease the challengers currently encountered by the members of the Armed services and Police in admitting their children to popular schools.
The Defence Serice College has a library, laboratory, computer laboratory, swimming pool, gymnasium and many other facilities for extra curricular activities.
A three day educational exhibition too was commenced to coincide witht he opening of the Defence Service College building.
Secretary Defence and Urban Development Ministry Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Minister of Education Bandula Gunawardena, Secretary to the President, Lalith Weerathunga, Chief of Defence staff Air Chief Marshal Roshan Gunathilaka ,Tri-Forces Commanders, Inspector General of Police, Director General Civil Defence Force and many other distinguished guests,were also present at the event
