A special security and traffic plan will be operative with regard to the Independence Day celebrations and the Deyata Kirula Exhibition in Kandy, Senior DIG Nimal Mediwaka said.He pointed out that the Dalada Veediya, Yatinuwara Veediyia, Kotugodella Veediya, D.S. Senanayake Veediya, the road around the Kandy Lake and Malabar Street will be closed for traffic from 4.00 in the morning till 12.00 noon on the 4th of February.
There will be an alternative route for those traveling from Colombo to Mahiyangana, Matale, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Kurunegala and Nuwara Eliya. He said they can use the road via Peradeniya, Getambe, Guhagoda, Katugastota, Madawala and Digana.
