Sri Lanka’s second Money Museum to be opened in Anuradhapura
The second Money Museum of Central Bank of Sri Lanka will be declared open in the capital city of the North Central Province Anuradhapura, on 5th September 2008.
According to the Central Bank, the public including school children as well as numismatics will be able to gain a wealth of information of money used in Sri Lanka since the 3rd century in this museum.
Ancient currencies, coins and notes used in the island under different colonial periods until the establishment of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka are some of the exhibits on display.
The Museum will be opened for the public daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., free of charge.
The first Money Museum of the Central Bank was established at the Bank’s Head Office building in Fort, Colombo in 1982.
