Sri Lanka team returns from Beijing

The Sri Lankan team that competed in the Beijing Olympic Games returned to the island this morning (27).

Although the Sri Lankan team could not perform up to expectation at the games, Sri Lanka got the opportunity to participate in new events at the Olympics after several decades.

Sri Lanka was represented by boxer Anuruddha Rathnaike, weightlifter Chinthana Vidanage, sprinters Susanthika Jayasinghe, Nadeeka Lakmali, Thilini Jayasinghe, E.M. Senanayake, and swimmers Mayumi Rhyhime, and Daniel Lee.

Meanwhile Susanthika Jayasinghe on her returned to the country said that this was her last Olympic Games and that she is expecting to retire soon.
