Sri Lanka’s only female Olympic medalist Susanthika Jaysainghe has decided to make a come back once again.
She has told local media that a formal announcement in this regard would be made shortly after informing her decision to Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa and country’s Sports Minister, Mahindananda Aluthgamage.
Susanthika Jayasinghe 33 had won the women’s 200m bronze medal in the 2000 Sydney Olympics but was later awarded silver following the winner Marian Jones failed in dope tests.
Jayasinghe is the only Sri Lankan Olympic medalist after Duncen White, who won a silver in men’s hurdles in 1948 London Olympics. She has also won the silver in the same event in 1997 World Championships.
