Expressing confidence about the on-going humanitarian mission to liberate the country from the clutches for terrorism, Member of the European Parliament, Niranjan Deva Adithya said that terrorism has never succeeded anywhere in the world.

In an interview with the State Radio, the European parliamentarian further pointed out that “Karuna Amman,” a former key military leader of the LTTE, had broken away from the terrorist outfitunderstanding this situation well.

“Karuna knew that the best way to serve his people was to enter the democratic main political stream of the country,” he said.

“He is now confident that their rights could be won only under a democratic structure.”

Mr. Deva Adithya said that the IRA which fought against Britain in the past now represents the people not only in the British Parliament but also in the European parliament as well.

He was confident that youth in the North will be able to enjoy the same rights as those in other parts of the country when they are liberated from the tyranny of LTTE.

Commenting on senior presidential advisor MP Basil Rajapakse’s visit to India, Mr. Deva Aditya said the MP fulfilled an excellent diplomatic mission, Asian Tribune reported quoting Mr. Deva Adithya.

Mr. Deva Adithya speaking of the GSP+ issue said it is the custom of the EU to examine GSP+ related issues before granting an extension of the concessions. The word “Investigation” was used in accordance with the law connected with the GSP+ regulations.

According to Mr. Deva Aditya, the EU looks at all relevant matters regarding the prevailing conditions in a country, such as labor rights, human rights, working etc., conditions before granting these concessions. He pointed out that the original law connected with GSP + concession to Sri Lanka was formulated in the French language.

He also said that” Investigation” is the English translation of the French word, and the original French word and the translation had not reflected the real meaning, the website reported.
