Tourism gathers momentum despite election fever

The tourist industry is booming  with more bidders entering into agreements with the Tourism Ministry for new tourist ventures in the North and East of Sri Lanka, now a peaceful region.

Sri Lanka Tourism sources disclosed that despite the election fever on in the country, tourist arrivals have increased many folds from June this year.

Hoteliers local and international have expressed great desire to build new hotels in the North  and East.

The Board of Investment (BOI) has entered into several agreements with prospective investors to build more tourist hotels  in the North and East, BOI sources revealed.

The Ministry has already desined a six year tourist development plan to  hit annual targets in tourism.
