World Bank to further assist eastern development with $ 900 million

ImageThe World Bank Vice President for South Asia Isabela Guerrero said that most countries in the world which are faced with the threat of terrorism are now emerging from that threat by eliminating terrorism.
“Sri Lanka is rapidly moving forward on the path of development as a country in South Asia,” she said.

World Bank Vice President, Guerrero made these observations when met with President Mahinda Rajapaksa to assure the continuous engagement of the World Bank with Sri Lanka in carrying out development activities including in the North and East.

World Bank Vice President informed President Rajapaksa that the organization will provide an additional grant of USD 900 million for the development activities of the East in the next five years.

She also asserted that the World Bank will assist the Government in carrying out the development activities in the non liberated areas of North, once they are brought under the control of the Government.
